Accessibility statement
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. Here is where we stand, including what we have not verified.
What we have done#
- Every text and background pair meets the AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1, and the borders of form fields and buttons meet the 3:1 required for non-text contrast. Both were checked by calculating the ratios rather than judging by eye.
- The site works without JavaScript for everything except the generator itself, which needs it because the code is built on your device. Pages explain this rather than showing an empty box.
- The whole generator works from the keyboard, and focus is always visible.
- Form fields have real labels tied to their inputs, not placeholder text standing in for labels.
- The QR preview updates in a live region, so a screen reader announces that a code has been produced.
- Text reflows to a single column down to 320 px without horizontal scrolling, and can be zoomed to 200% without loss of content.
- Tap targets are at least 44 px on touch devices, and inputs are 16 px so mobile browsers do not zoom unexpectedly on focus.
- Animation is limited to short state changes, and is disabled entirely when the operating system requests reduced motion.
- A skip link lets keyboard users jump straight to the main content.
Known limitations#
We would rather list these than claim full conformance:
- A QR code is inherently visual. The image cannot be made meaningful to a screen reader beyond describing that a code exists, so we also show the exact encoded content as selectable text beneath the preview. Anyone who cannot use the image can copy that text instead.
- The colour swatches are identified by a text tooltip and their position. If you cannot distinguish them, the default black is the correct choice for scanning anyway.
- This statement is based on our own testing. It has not been independently audited, and we have not tested with every combination of assistive technology and browser.
Standard we are aiming for#
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, level AA. We consider the site partially conformant: most of the standard is met, and the limitations above are the parts we know are not fully verified.
Tell us about a problem#
If something on this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please write to contact@qr-tag-generator.com and describe the page, what you were trying to do and the assistive technology you were using. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not feature requests, and will tell you what we intend to do and roughly when.
If we do not respond adequately, you can escalate to the relevant enforcement body in your country.
